-D. Vincent Thomas JR.
Thank you for your interest in electing D. Vincent Thomas Jr. to the U.S. House of Representatives for IL 9th District.
You may be as excited, as I am, that we are going to gain a Republican seat in the House, when I become a member of the U.S. House of Representatives, by winning the Thomas for Illinois’ 9th U.S. Congressional Campaign 2018. The incumbent has controlled this seat for far too long, causing voters in the district feel overlooked and taken for granted, and thus the voters have become jaded by the assumptions made by the incumbent. Now is the perfect time for a fresh, smart, new style of Republican leader to take this seat and lead. My name is D. Vincent Thomas Jr, and I am that leader.
Throughout my life I have made it a personal goal to seize every opportunity to serve both my country and my community. My professional and personal development began in academia, with duel B.A. degrees in Theology and Philosophy, a Masters Degree in Theological Studies, and later my PhD in Public Policy and Administration. I am currently a professor of American Government, International Relations, and Comparative Politics, at DePaul University. Still I have always understood that the classroom is not where one gains real life experiences, nor can it satisfy my sense of duty to my country. It is out of this sentiment I enlisted into the United States military after earning my Masters Degree. As an Active Duty Enlisted member of the United States Coast Guard, I served as Operations Specialist in counter-narcotics & counter-terrorism upon the Coast Guard Cutter Hamilton and the Coast Guard Cutter Boutwell. While aboard the Coast Guard Cutter Boutwell, we thwarted international drug cartels, by seizing 10,600 tons of cocaine out of international waters heading towards the United States. Upon leaving Active Duty with an Honorable Discharge, I now serve as a Reservist in the United States Coast Guard, as a Maritime Law Enforcement Specialist. I swore an oath to “support and defend the Constitution of the United States…that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same.” In so doing I am fully committed to serve and contribute to the betterment of the 9th U.S. Congressional District of Illinois as well as our American Family as a whole, irrespective of race, religion, sexual orientation, gender, or political party.
Now is the time for us to dare to discover a New Republican Party. We can no longer simply talk about being an open tent party. We must show that we are an open tent party with sincerity, conviction, and a sense of shared prosperity. My name is D. Vincent Thomas Jr. and I am that New Republican Party.
